Due to Twitter API changes outside our control, we are sad to say (and like many other Twitter tools facing the same fate) Social Bearing is no longer operational. Annoucement here.

Archiving tweets. Does Social Bearing store tweet data?

29 January, 2018 by Tom

tl;dr no

Social Bearing does not save, archive or otherwise store any tweet or Twitter user data. This includes tweets for hashtags, keywords, geo located tweets, user accounts and tweets from users

The tweets you see from Social Bearing are requested direct from Twitter on demand, using Twitter’s REST API in batches of 100 or 200 at a time. When searching for keywords, we use the search tweets method and can display tweets up to 7 days old. When searching for Tweets from user accounts, we use the user timeline method which can display the latest 3,200 tweets.

When tweets are returned, no saving are archiving takes place. If you refresh the search results page or user timeline for example, it will refresh with the latest tweets

In some instances, Google or other search engines may automatically cache tweets or user account information when crawling Social Bearing. If you notice a title or description in search engines that is out of date or incorrect, this will usually correct itself when Google next crawls the page in question on Social Bearing

Social Bearing can essentially search and display the same tweets and view the same user accounts as the official Twitter Search and will use this publically visible data to generate various charts and graphs. like the Twitter search, Social Bearing cannot view tweets private accounts that have the lock symbol displayed.
